We love Onyx Coffee for so many reasons beyond the delicious coffee itself. They are taking a stand for transparency in a field where the consumer typically does not get to see the ins and outs of the trade, and it can be a dirty business. What sets them apart on top of this is their true commitment to both the environment and society as a whole. They only source beans from sustainable and transparent farms that utilize eco-friendly fermentation and production processes, their roastery is powered by solar technology, and the packaging is fully biodegradable (not to mention absolutely stunning.) Something unique about Onyx Coffee Lab is their take on Fair Trade. Fair Trade guarantees producers a certain amount per pound of coffee - Onyx pays double this, and often 3-5 times more. They have also started an initiative called “Starts with Soil” which provides money back to farmers in the form of agricultural support. How could you not love them?!
